China Garden Spring - Foundations and stone walls

China Garden Spring

China Garden Spring

China Garden Spring is located in Darwin Canyon, just a short distance up canyon from Darwin Falls.  A pond of water can be found at the spring, it contains exotic koi fish, which had been placed here in the 1940’s.

The spring has created an oasis in the desert, with grasses, cottonwood trees, and other brush; all a vivid green.

Foundations and stone walls lie below the cottonwoods, likely upon these foundations once stood the home of the miner that once worked in nearby mines, as well as operated the China Garden Spring Mill that still sits on the hill above the spring.

Today China Garden Spring feeds the town of Darwin their water supply. Under the cottonwoods hikers make camp, and prepare to descend rugged Darwin Canyon to reach Darwin Falls from above.

If you know any details regarding the mill site, the foundations, and who once lived here, please get it touch.
