The Palm Springs-South Coast Field Office has  jurisdiction from the coast to the desert, and includes BLM lands within all or part of four Southern California counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego. This covers nearly 1.7 million acres of public lands, of which 1.5 million acres are within the California Desert Conservation Area, and 137,000 acres are within the South Coast Resource Area. The lands administered include the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, the California Coastal National Monument, and a wide range of habitats and geography and diverse populations of plants, animals and people.
