Thomas Place (Mojave National Preserve)

Thomas Place - A single wall remains standing of the old ranch house.

Thomas Place – A single wall remains standing of the old ranch house.

The Thomas homestead has seen better days, the old ranch house is nearly to it’s knees. The dugout which was likely used to keep provisions cool is still in relatively good condition and has yet to succumb to the elements and years of neglect. A large wooden corral now leans awaiting it’s final gust of desert wind before it collapses in on itself.

I wish there was more to tell about Thomas Place, but it’s history appears to be as lost as the homestead itself.

Thomas Place - The underground cold storage room is the best preserved structure at the old ranch.
